Dr. Herman is the Health Sciences Program Chair within the College of Health Professions and Natural Sciences at Wilmington University. She teaches Health Sciences courses as well as undergraduate courses in the BSN program and graduate courses within the MSN program, primarily in the area of research. She has been an adjunct faculty member in the College of Health Professions since 2002. Dr. Herman earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Delaware and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Wilmington University.

Prior to her role as Chair of Health Sciences, Dr. Herman was the manager of the Cardiovascular Clinical Trials program at Christiana Care for 24 years. During that time she oversaw the successful implementation of many international clinical trials as well as many published local trials. Her research interests include: Technology in Healthcare, Ethical Decision-making in nursing, dietary factors for cardiac disease, and depression and anxiety in post cardiac device implants. Dr. Herman’s doctoral research project was titled: “Use of mobile (mHealth) Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) technology to gain insight and evaluate the perceived usefulness for the improvement and transformation of patient engagement in the health care of individuals associated with a community rural health system”.
